By the time Elias found the empty car, they were gone.  No telling where they went.  Looking inside of the abandoned car, he looked for anything that could help identify the occupants.  The floorboard was covered with debris and dirt.  The kind of dirt that billowed behind the cars along the road.  

 

Lizzie could feel the impeding the power surge through her body.  She both reveled in it and at the same time she reviled herself for the aftermath, but she couldn't help herself.  She could smell them first before she saw them.  Those children were crawling over the turtle that held up the massive totem pole.  She could smell their tang of salty sweat.  It drove her insane.  

 

The solar and lunar eclipses usually set everything in motion.  The brief moment the two celestial bodies passed before or behind each other, her skin tingled.  It only took a few seconds for the transformation to begin and just as suddenly it ended.
